WIGAN WHITE-OUT: pictures of familar landmarks cloaked in snow

The borough woke up to a blanket of snow today (January 16) and, as these pictures demonstrate, they completely changed familiar landscapes within minutes.

It is going to be cold tonight and the remaining snow could well freeze, so motorists are pedestrians are being warned to proceed very carefully during the night and tommorrow morning.
