Armed stand-off as roads cordoned off on Wigan housing estate

Reports are coming in of an armed stand-off on a housing estate.

Roads have also been cordoned off on the junction of Poplar Avenue and Cedar Grove in Ashton

Armed police can be seen within the cordon while two ambulances are also believed to be on standby .

An eyewitness told Wigan Today: "Seems to be a serious incident in Ashton-in-Makerfield on the junction of Poplar Avenue and Cedar Grove.

"Armed police, roads blocked and two ambulance look to be on standby outside the cordon."
