A 45-year-old man has appeared before Wigan magistrates to deny historical child sex offences.

Ian Foy, 45, of Lingard Street, Leigh, faces two charges of indecently assaulting a girl under 14 between 1991 and 1992. The offences were allegedly committed when he himself was a teenager.

He pleaded not guilty to both and magistrates ordered that the case be sent to be heard by a Bolton Crown Court judge and jury for trial on August 5.

He was released on unconditional bail.
