Emergency services were called to Old Road in Ashton at around noon on Tuesday.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed a patient was taken to Wigan Infirmary by road.

Police said the casualty was a man who is believed to be in his 40s.

The extent of his injuries are currently unclear.

The air ambulance also attended the incident, with the helicopter landing nearby in Jubilee Park.

Local reports suggested it was a window cleaner who had been injured.
